About the Ministry
The Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is a national human-care ministry embracing the unique, calming nature and skills of purebred Golden Retrievers. LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs are a bridge for compassionate ministry — opening doors for conversation about faith and creating opportunities to share the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ.
These dogs are trained to interact with people of all ages and circumstances who are suffering and in need. They serve the community in which they are placed and can be deployed in times of disaster or crisis to bring comfort to those affected.
Meet Seth
In April 2019, Eternal Shepherd acquired our very own LCC K-9 Comfort Dog, Seth. Seth and his team are ready to serve our church, our community, and wherever God calls us. Seth's team consists of 8 handlers and 12 Ministry Partners who reach out to our community by visiting assisted living homes, senior centers, hospitals, hospice, schools, and veteran/military organizations — bringing comfort and love to those in need.
Seth's team may also respond to areas of crisis or disaster when requested, comforting people in their time of need and providing a bridge for opening conversations of faith to those who are hurting.
How You Can Help
- Pray for this ministry at Eternal Shepherd — that we will follow God's lead and be a witness of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Offer ideas of where the Comfort Dog and team can serve. Let us know if you know of a facility that could use a furry friend to hug, talk to, and love.
- Donate — there are various needs associated with maintaining this ministry: Seth's care, ministry supplies, and deployment costs.
